Gaia – SS14 fshnunlimited Magazine

So…. it’s been a one year hiatus it seems.  Not quite voluntarily.  I’ve been working for a year on a full-time basis for a kitchen company as their in-house photographer.  It kept me extremely occupied and extremely tired, but now I’m back!  Till I get another gig, but I’ll make sure not to disappear again as my photography work is very important to me.

It was a ‘Jack of all Trades’ type job and the experience I’ve gained from it is priceless and, as always, learned what mistakes not to repeat again, but grow from it.  I have also learned that I’m not half bad in product photography….who knew!!!  In this post I’ll be providing work from last year’s Spring/Summer 2014 magazine and some product photography.

Last year for Spring I shot for Fashion Unlimited Magazine once again (and have this year as well so stay tuned).  The story is titled Gaia and it was one of the most rewarding shoots I’ve done in a long time.  Satiating to say the least!  Worked with a great team (wouldn’t have it any other way!!) and we came up with something amazing.  We decided to keep the shoot very…. organic, so to speak.  Not a stitch of clothing.  All real  flowers and plants.  All glued happily onto the model!!  No crazy glue, just good ole eyelash glue 🙂  Don’t want to torture the poor model 😉  Minimum retouching as both the model and the work done was to perfection.

Rock Me Anna Karenina….

…. So is the name to an editorial that was recently published in the winter issue for fshnunlimited Magazine.  Very VERY excited about this as it’s a new printed magazine and amazing at that!  It’s a fairly large sized magazine (larger than the average ones you see on stands) with excellent paper printed on.  I couldn’t have been more honoured to shoot for them when I was asked to.  At the moment of request I was immersed in the recent version of Anna Karenina starring Keira Knightley.  I love the story telling and the stage setup….. nevermind the cinematography!  I must’ve watched it close to five times at that point.  So, when I was asked to shoot for the magazine I instantly thought of Leo Tolstoy’s story of a woman who reaches madness through her own despairs.  Why not…. why not have a dark, deep, depressing yet well dressed story added to this magazine.  So I pitched the idea with a story board and all, I even found clothing made by two Portuguese designers found at a coffee shop called Citizenry, to the editor and owner.  They were into it!!  I was very pleased to hear that.  Presenting to you all….. *drum roll*…… Rock Me Anna Karenina!!!!   enjoy
